House-side line versus the septic system
A slow drain on a septic property is one of two things: a blockage in the house-side line, or a tank that needs pumping and is backing up into it. Telling those apart before anyone starts work saves a wasted service call.
Signs the tank is the problem
Every fixture slow at once, soggy ground over the drain field, or odor outdoors points at the system rather than the pipe.
Signs it is just a clog
One fixture affected, or a backup that started right after a specific event, points at the line and we can clear it the same day.
