Seventy years of clay tile
Clay laid in the 1950s came in short sections with mortared joints. Ground movement over seven decades opens those joints slightly, and every open joint is an invitation to the elms and cottonwoods lining these streets.
Root cutting and a jetting pass
The cutter removes the mass, the jetter flushes the debris out instead of leaving it to re-settle downstream. Skipping the second step is why some cleanings do not hold.
Knowing when to stop cleaning
When the camera shows a section that has separated or collapsed, more cleaning is money down a hole. We will say so.
